Building Design and Theory Department is in a position to incorporate the experimental nature of Architectural Education by means of 8-semester architectural studio environment. The curriculum of the Department consisting predominantly of design courses feeds the studio environment with other theoretical courses, and, in this regard, supports architectural education that should be holistic. Although this experimental approach plays a very decisive role in the first year of the education in the context of basic design specifically, it is aimed that such an approach should spread in general. The studies related to contemporary architectural design issues are carried out within the Department such as the theory of architecture, relationship of the design with the built and natural environment, and outcomes of these studies are reflected in education. The Members of the Department undertake a critical role in efforts related to the direct or indirect reflection of current debates in architectural design education. The Department consists of 14 academic staff members in total including 8 Faculty Members and 6 Research Assistants and is conducting activities on different areas of research with the staff.
