The Department of Restoration aims to provide conservation education by carrying out theory and practice related to the built environment that should be protected, especially restoration, historical environment and cultural heritage.
In addition, the development of the consciousness of conservation in historical sites, application of traditional and modern measurement-drawing techniques, restoration projects, discussion of conservation approaches on the urban scale, and investigation of conservation theory and practices and national and international examples with elective courses, and preparing conservation projects are among the goals of the Department. Furthermore, the objective of the course is to explain and practice the organization of archiving and inventory processes, which are important parts of the studies on cultural heritage conservation. The department also plans to be recognized at national and international levels in terms of conservation by means of high-level scientific research and publications. It is also aimed to contribute to the conservation science by preparing scientific research and TUBITAK projects.
The Department of Restoration, which started education in 1992, is one of the most active departments of the Faculty of Architecture. The department which continues its studies with 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Assistant Professors, and 1 Research Assistant provides graduate education in addition to the undergraduate education and raises qualified researchers and practitioners in a scientific context. The department carries out application studies besides undergraduate and graduate education. Students are provided with theoretical information for the discussion of conservation projects, processes, and experiences.
